The AI thatargues back.
Looks like a regular chat. Underneath, it surfaces the tensions in your thinking, keeps the reasoning inspectable, and turns decisions into action packets.
THE PROBLEM
The problem
with help.
Every AI on the market makes the same promise. Build with you. Think alongside you. Help. But help was never the scarce thing. The scarce thing is honesty.
Absolutely! Your Q3 milestone approach looks solid. Shipping this feature aligns well with your goals.
agrees without questioningWhat makes this week materially different from next? "Q3" is a calendar label, not a reason to ship.
assumption surfacedWhen a tool is trained to be helpful, it learns that agreement feels good. It mirrors your assumptions, reinforces your framing, and calls that support. The result is a very articulate yes.
HOW IT THINKS
Three moves, every time.
Plan: hire 12 engineers in Q4, mostly mid-level, paired across our four product lines. Goal is to ship the agent platform GA by Feb.
WHAT IT DOES
Built to push back.
THE DIFFERENCE
Not a better assistant. A different one.
Standard AI optimizes for your approval. Popper optimizes for your actual outcome: naming the assumption you have not tested yet, not confirming the direction you arrived with.
PopperWHO IT'S FOR
Built for people who want to be wrong.
popper is for founders and builders who would rather be wrong now than wrong in the market later.
Founders
Pressure-testing a strategy before committing money and months to it
"Is this Q3 launch date real, or just a goal we labeled a deadline?"
Operators
Working through a call where the comfortable answer is probably the wrong one
"What would I have to believe for this decision to be a mistake?"
Solo builders
Who have no one across the table to argue with them
"What assumption am I making that I haven't said out loud yet?"
Critical thinkers
Anyone whose current AI toolkit only ever says yes
"Give me the strongest case against this plan."
HONEST ABOUT THIS
Who it isn't for.
Honesty saves both of us time. If you're looking for a tool that agrees and assists, popper is the wrong product.
"We'd rather lose you early than lose your trust later."
A brainstorming partner that validates your ideas
Popper argues back. If you want validation, it will frustrate you.
A writing assistant or coding tool
Popper doesn't write for you — it questions what you're building.
An AI that follows your lead without pushback
Popper's job is to name your blind spots, not your agenda.
Confirmation that your current plan is correct
If the plan is right, Popper will help you prove it. But it won't skip that step.
ALPHA FEEDBACK
From teams in the alpha.
The criticism function catches the thing I was hoping wasn't actually a problem. Every time.
I used to convince myself in the first three minutes. Popper makes that harder to do.
I ran our Q4 plan through it before the all-hands. It named the assumption that was already bothering me.
THE REASONING
Most AI assistants
optimize for agreement.
Popper was built to argue back.
Karl Popper argued that knowledge grows through honest refutation, not confirmation. An assistant built on this principle does not flatter your plans. It finds the assumption that breaks them.
"The goal is not to win the argument. It is to find the real problem."
FAQ
Common questions.
Things people ask before committing to a tool that argues back.
An AI co-founder is a tool that helps founders test strategy and make decisions. Most are positioned as cooperative partners that build alongside you. popper.chat takes the other seat: it is built to argue back, to find what is wrong with the plan rather than help you extend it.
It runs on similar underlying technology, but it is not a general assistant. If you want a ChatGPT alternative that helps in any direction you point it, other tools do that. popper does one thing: it disagrees with you on purpose, as the core feature.
Not yet. The current alpha preserves conversation history, while durable shared memory is planned through Popper Knowledge. Memory previews do not save or inject anything into future chats.
The name comes from Karl Popper, the philosopher who argued that ideas earn trust by surviving attempts to break them. That is the design principle: if popper cannot help you find what is wrong with your plan, it has failed.
